When I am feeling depressed and wanting to give up, the thought that I can accomplish anything if I put my mind to it sustains me. Using this way of thinking has helped me very much.
I can do all things through Jesus Christ who strengthens me. (Phil 4:13)
One thing that sustains me is my love for my friends and family. without both your life would be meaningless and suck. you need friends and people to turn to when your sad.
another thing that sustains me is my love for the amazing city they call Pittsburgh. I love the tradition and rooting for the steelers every sunday.
Finally the last and most important thing that sustains me is my love for God. God is perfect and without him nothing is possible.
"If you don't make a total commitment to whatever you're doing, then you start looking to bail out the first time the boat starts leaking. It's tough enough getting that boat to shore with everybody rowing, let alone when a guy stands up and starts putting his jacket on."
Like most people, I think my friends and my family are what sustains me. Just remembering some of the good times I've had with them always puts a smile on my face. The little everyday traditions that we have are comforting, so when I'm feeling down, I always look to them to cheer me up. Also, I started to volunteer at a place called HEARTH over the summer, which helps homeless women and children. Whenever I think of my friends there, who have gone through so much but are so happy, I am inspired to work through the problems in my own life.
It's not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog! -Archie Griffen
Like everyone else, i think my friends and family's love sustains me. without them I am like a computer without power. When they are around me, I'm lit. But the most important thing that sustains me is my love for God. Everything is possible when I am with God.
"We thrive and survive on planet earth as a single human family. And one of our main responsibilities is to leave to successor generations a sustainable future." General Kofi A. Annan
I’m sure most people would say that friends and family sustains oneself, I agree with their statements. Unfortunately in my opinion, I believe that inner power of will, sustains me the most. Everyone may need the support of family and friends, but in reality our own drive or will, keeps us going. Only you have the power to determine your fate.
Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark, in the hopeless swamps of the approximate, the not-quite, the not-yet, the not-at-all. Do not let the hero in your soul perish, in lonely frustration for the life you deserved, but have never been able to reach. Check your road and the nature of your battle. The world you desired can be won. It exists, it is real, it is possible, it is yours.
When life gets way to busy or just plain stressful I always make time for myself. I enjoy going on long bike rides and golfing, these two activities help me become clear minded and less stressed out. Music also sustains me, for example if I had a bad day at school I will get in the car and put on a good song which will eventually bring me back to being myself.
Everyone in this world lives for something. Some people live for family, friends, or God. All these do sustain me, but what really sustains me are the dreams that I have in life: what I want to do with my life and how I can impact the world today. Dreams and goals can keep us going because everyday, you work harder and harder in order to reach them. Once I do reach a goal, even if it is just a small one, it gives me strength and hope that I can achieve any challenge that I encounter.
"If you can imagine it, you can achieve it; if you can dream it, you can become it." -William Arthur Ward
"Energy and persistence conquer all things." A quote from Benjamin Franklin. My friends and my family sustain me the most. They support me in everything I do and they stck by me through everything. They keep me strong and help me to keep going. They help me to never give up and to keep on going. Whenever I need help, they're the ones I go to.
Most people would say that friends and family sustain them the most. I do think that, but softball is really what sustains me the most. When I am out their on that field and focused in I feel more relaxed and calm. When I play I am ready to be out their trying my best. I drive myself to try my hardest. I know in my heart that when I am making a play, or I have made a hit i am doing my best. The feeling of be accomplished is everything to me. It makes me feel as if i am on top of the world.
-Never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game.
I am lucky to have my family, friends, and faith to sustain me when I need support. Unfortunately, I have a tendency to take this part of my support system for granted. One of the reasons I am thankful, is I have these people and my faith to help me and I can always count on them to be there. There are times when I need to find a way to sustain and deal with problems for myself. I turn to golf and basketball to provide this support. When I play golf or basketball, I can work through problems by pushing myself to play hard and concentrate on the game. The sports help me to deal with life's pressures and stresses. There is a quote by Arnold Palmer that inspires me, "I've always made a total effort, even when the odds seemed entirely against me. I never quit trying; I never felt that I didn't have a chance to win."
There are a couple things that sustain me, that keep me wanting to keep myself up. Therea is Jesus my best best friend, my bestfriend, my family, the things people say that reach my heart that mean so much and keep me moving. With out Jesus I would have no real friend that I could turn to or ask for help. My bestfriend is the same way except for Jesus I can tell him anything and he actually can change the problem. Still my bestfriend is there to keep me up and ask me how my day was and to keep me smiling. My family is there to actually support me and give me all that i need to survive. The last thing that sustains me is the things people say to me that mean the world to me even when its just hey whats up means alot to me because that person cares.
This quote is by my favorite author Ishmael Beah. The quote means that people in the sun complain about the heat and stop trying their best, but when the moons out no one complains because when the moonlights out happy things happen.
"We must strive to be like the moon" ~Ishmael Beah~
I can look to be sustained in my family and friends, maybe sports and music, but what really keeps me going is the fact that there will always be another chance to make things right. Tomorrow will come and the past will be past, and that keeps me from losing my faith and falling when things get rough.
"Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase." Martin Luther King Jr.
What sustains me is my belief in and respect for myself. Without this, I couldn't have dreams, a work ethic, or anything else that can be relied upon for support to allow myself to "keep going".
Having belief in myself lets me know that I can suceed even when I can't find support from any other source. Having respect for myself is the only way I can keep faith in whatever it is I am doing at the time when no other person supports it. Having belief in myself gives me individuality in this way, and this is how it sustains me.

what sustains me? i think that my family and friends help sustain me. also, my faith. faith to move on, faith to get up in the morning and know that the day will be ok. every time i feel like i am alone, i always look back to my memories from camp and how they let me be ME! they helped me move on. for me, they are like my foundation that help keep me strong. i know that God is ALWAYS there to help when i need him, so, i pray to him when i need guidance.

Honestly there arent many things that sustain me. One of them is being able to go to my summer house and riding our atvs and being able to forget about the world. When I am up there i have the time of my life. Another is my sister. No matter what happens she is always there and she always always always makes the best out of everything! :)
Friends, and family sustain me. I need both in my life, and my family and friends made me who i am today. Friends and family are always there for me, and help me when i have confilcts or when i am down in the dumps. I thanks God everyday for my friends and family because that is greatest gift God could ever give me!
“Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life... as by the obstacles which he has overcome while trying to succeed.” -Booker T. Washington
Like what most people have already said, I believe that my friends and family sustain me the most. Whenever I'm having a bad day, I can always count on them to make me feel better. I know that my friends will always be there to make me laugh, or say something encouraging, and I know that my parents are always there with open arms to give me a big hug, or to say somehing that will help me to continue on, no matter how difficult it may seem.
I also believe that my desire to get good grades and succeed in life helps to sustain me. Whenever I'm doing schoolwork, and I feel like I want to sit down and relax instead, I remember that awesome feeling that I have whenever I get an A on a test, or get good grades on my report card.
Of course, God also sustains me. I know, that like my family and friends, He is always there to help and comfort me through good times and bad times. I know that He is always there for me to talk to.
"Fill your efforts with purpose, persistence, diligence and integrity. And your life will be filled with valuable achievements." -Ralph Marston
I would have to say that basketball sustains me. No matter how terrible of a day I am having, I can always release my feelings through basketball. It's one of the things that I have complete control over in my life. It makes me feel free. The rush and adrenline I feel during games are very exhilirating.
"Never let it rest, until your good is better, and your better is best. -Tim Duncan.
What sustains me? In my case, this question would be a 'whom' rather than a 'what'. When things in my life become almost to much for me to handle, there is one person who is always there to sustain me, my mother. My mother is the rock in my life and i feed my mental and phyciscal strength from her. She provides the support and structure that gets me through each day and I am so greatful for that. She is not only there through the hard times, but also through the times of pure happiness and excitment. My mother is the most influential person in my life and i strive each day to be as wise and caring as she is.

"Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me"
I guess that's part of psalm 23. I think I heard Samuel L. Jackson refer to it in "Pulp Fiction" I can't be sure though, I haven't really seen much of the movie. So...what sustains me? I have been brought into this world, at this time. And now, as I begin to learn of its ways, I will at some point understand what negotiates my survival in such a world. Should I fail in this, I will die. THat's what sustains me.
Music is what sustains me best! Without music i don't know what i would do with myself. Music keeps me thinking and always gives me something to do. Every day music is a part of my life, anything that is happening in my life i can use music to relate to it. No matter what, playing it is better than just listening to it but both are awesome.

VIC TATUM: I would say that learning sustains me most of all. When my mind is interpreting knowledge I feel worthy of life. Although the application of knowledge is even more satisfying.
My friends and family sustain me. Whenever I'm in a bad mood, talking to someone makes everything better. It doesn't even need to be about why I'm upset; talking and laughing about anything helps so much.
Something that sustains me in my life is my family. They are all very supportive no matter what I do, and they have the best outlook and suggestions for me and my upcoming future. Without them I would be an unbalanced person.
Another thing that sustains me is tennis. I love to play tennis, and I also love being athletic, so this is what makes me feel the best. I love playing and feeling that I am doing this for God and trying to win in his name.
One last thing that really sustains me is my friends. They understand the same as me, and always know how to make me laugh and have a good time together. Without them, my life would be a lot different, and not as fun!
