A few things that remind me of the color red.
Red:Saxaphone
Cardinal Call
Lower Notes of the Piano
There are a lot of Cardinals around my house and in the winter I love to look at them. Cardinals are red and that's where the association comes from.
I would use the lower notes on the piano because there is the darker side to the color red. It is the color of blood, the color of war.
"Lady Macbeth:
Out, damn'd spot! out, I say!–One; two: why, then
'tis time to do't.–Hell is murky.–Fie, my lord, fie, a soldier, and
afeard? What need we fear who knows it, when none can call our
pow'r to accompt?–Yet who would have thought the old man to
have had so much blood in him?" Shakespeare Macbeth
This quote reminds me of red because it is blood that Lady Macbeth is seeing on her hands.
There were more but I can't remember the names of the instruments. Red really isn't one of my favorite colors so there is not much I can say about it.
Red, Red Wine by: Bob Marley
yes! low piano notes are a great way to think about red as a sound. the saxophone too, which can have a deeply rich tone. thick like blood, or wine.
ReplyDeleteis there anything more beautiful than a cardinal in winter?
when i was in college red, red wine was a favorite song of
mine. however this version is by UB40, a cover version of
a Neil Diamond song.

Hello Zonia,
ReplyDeleteRed is an excellent color, especially for emotions. I liked your explanation of red with the Macbeth quote! Blood is one way of looking at the color red, but I find it a very negative view. I prefer to look at the color red like a joyful and jubilant color. Red reminds me of my favorite color, (hot) pink which is a very bright and expressive color as well.
Here are some excellent happy, red pictures:

P.S. Red, Red Wine had nothing to do with Bob Marley. Neil Diamond wrote it. It was remade by several artists (most successfully by UB40), but not Bob.
=PPP I heard it from him first therefore in my mind he wrote it. Rawr.
ReplyDeleteMoving on now xD~~
And thank you. Macbeth, although it is basically the only Shakespeare play I have red (haha that was actually a typo but it turned out to be a bad pun too P=), it is a really really good play and I really like it. It reminds me of the color red because it is a very dark play, filled with death and complications, and with is what I associate the colour red.
Sunsets can contain the colour red but for whatever reason I don't really connect them.
Oh by the way I love your username
hahahahaha. it's so not true though
Thanks for the thing about the username. I am very exited to read Macbeth ... so don't tell me what happens! I want to find out by my self! I'll tell you what color I think of when I finish the book!
ReplyDeletePudgie :)
P.S. Your are not getting the point! Not only did Bob Marley not write the song, but he also never sung it, or made a remake of it. It is a very common mistake that is all over the internet.
